Import GPX; Mapshare shows tracks/waypoints, can't sync tracks to device

https://inreach.garmin.com/Map.
I imported a 3rd party .gpx file into the Map page. As I expected under the Library I can see Waypoints and the route between them as Tracks. The Library shows there are no actual Routes assigned to this file.

I sync this to the Inreach:mini and then to Earthmate on my iPhone.

Problem is only the Waypoints are shown on the map on Earthmate, the Tracks do not show up which is a bit pointless.

Anyone have answers then...

1. How do I get the tracks to display
2. How do I create a route on Mapshare without having to manually follow along the lines of the displayed Tracks? It's 3000km of tracks and Mapshare is not by any means a very good route creation tool.

When synching, the pop up runs through telling me it's synching waypoints, routes, but never do I see tracks come up in the box

Thanks in advance
Simon
  • I should point out that while using the sync app, the pop up box runs through whats synching, so you see Maps, Routes, Waypoints but I've never seen the word Tracks...
  • You cannot sync tracks to the device. To convert a track to a route, which you can sync to the device, select the track in the left sidebar of the Map tab (at inreach.garmin.com) by clicking on it. When you do this, you will see several new icons for the selected track in the sidebar. One of these is a pair of left/right arrows, which is the Convert to Route button. (You can get an interpretation of the hieroglyphics by hovering over the icon with your mouse.)

You need to be aware that there are limits to the number of points in a route. Tracks with excess points will be "thinned" when converted to routes. Depending on the nature of the track and the amount of thinning required, the thinning may or may not produce an acceptable result for navigation. For example, a track containing switchbacks may be converted to a route with fewer switchbacks - perhaps even to the point of going straight up the hill.
  • Thanks, I just confirmed that after I'd written my post..... makes my Inreach mini just a very very expensive satellite text messenger with the ability to track and nothing much else! Guess I'll use RideWith GPS to use a route planner. The streamlining to 200 points makes the who mapshare a waste of space and since creating a new route doesn't even have such functionality as click and follow to road/trail then that too was unusable.
