How frustrating.... just when I think it has ended Garmin creates more hoops for me to jump through... Extremely disappointing.
I used to be able to upload routes of any length.... I would have routes on the device functioning perfectly with 15,000 route points.
Then came update to prevent direct uploading of routes over 200 points.... so had to upload large routes through Garmin Connect.
Then came the update that prevented uploading large routes through any import method... so now I have to split my large routes into many files.
Note As of ~Aug 15th I could have e.g. 40 routes on my device each with 200 route points, (about 8000 points) and this would use ~40% of the devices memory as indicated on the tracking page.
NOW! With this recent firmware update I get a 100% full device memory with only 22 routes each with 200 route points (about 4000 points).
THEREFORE this firmware update has effectively reduced the capacity of the device by at least a factor of 4!
LITERALLY EVERY UPDATE GARMIN COMES OUT WITH MAKES THE DEVICE WORSE. THIS IS NOT THE POINT OF SOFTWARE UPDATES. UPDATES SHOULD MAKE THINGS BETTER.
If Garmin had literally done NOTHING since the device was launched I would be having a MUCH better experience.
Can't wait for the next update GARMIN I'm sitting on the edge of my seat!!! What will you do next time!?? Here is some great ideas: get rid of the clunky GPS feature, who cares where they are, or maybe you could disable the SOS button if you battery isn't at 100%. Or just delete the routes feature entirely since you make it worse and worse with each update....
In all honesty I can't believe the software manager would approve these changes. I, a software developer myself, would have repercussions at my company if I made updates that led to this level of dissatisfaction with my end users.
Any one else hitting this memory issue? We need to speak up....
This is only 88 KiloBytes worth of files..... when mounted the device says it has 2.61 GigaBytes FREE out of 11.9 GigaBytes.....
If the device was using the free space efficiently this should theoretically only use 0.0032% of the devices free memory!! Are you kidding me... KiloBytes are nothing!!!. Floppy Disks in the late 1970s had more memory capacity!
