How to get tracks off of the InReach Explorer +

Hello,

I deleted tracks off of the online mapshare, but they are still on my handheld unit. Now I am scared to sync as I think it will delete my tracks off my Explorer+ unit? I tried exploring the unit connected to the computer but can't find where and which folder the tracks are stored? Very confusing and not what I'm used to for garmin units. Tried connecting it to Basecamp and it won't find the tracks either nor will it connect at all. Am I doing something wrong? Very confused about this.

  • Tracks cannot be copied directly from the unit in any manner. The inReach line is not yet a full participant in the Garmin ecosystem - so applications like Basecamp do not talk to it. The only approach that I know of is to export them from the web site as .gpx or .kml.

You are right to be concerned about the effects of the sync process. I don't think that tracks will be deleted from the unit in this situation. But I don't have an active Exporer+ with which to test. If the data is valuable to you, I would contact Garmin support before you sync. Or wait to see if somebody who knows for sure chimes in here. Do not take my word for it because I don't know for sure.
  • For what it's worth, I just synced my inReach Explorer + using the windows client and all my previous tracks are still on my device. That said, the tracking points didn't appear on the online map like I was expecting them to.
