I just purchased a new Garmin inReach Explorer+ and subscribed to the Annual Recreation Plan for this year to start out which provides 40 texts a month. The other 2 guys I'll be traveling with will also have these and at times we could be separated by some distances. Is there a text 'cost' if we send a text inReach to inReach?
I am unable to find a definitive answer on the support site or in the Terms and Conditions. My understanding is that inReach to inReach messages are charged like any other message. And that both sender and receiver will be charged for each message.
That is my understanding as well. A message sent or received from an inReach will be recorded as one message. The plan that you have will determine whether you are charged for messages or whether you have a certain number of free messages. So both you and your buddy will be charged for one message. That aspect kind of sucks but the inReach sure is a great communication tool.
