Hello ...Woeste_Pics here,

I have a Inreach SE for some time .
Before I could send my link for the Mapshare and anyone from the persons that i selected could see the route that ive been taking .

But at the moment ... i miss half of the messages that i have been sending now on mapshare .
I can see the messages still on the Earthmate APP but not on Mapshare .
Also i see only the gps pos of the messages ...but no tracks of which route i performed ...while the rate was about 20 mins and on the options page the Tracking was selected in "on" .

can anyone fill in what i did wrong ?
Too much points or so ?

Kind regards
  • For tracking there are two intervals, Logging and Sending. Logging is the time between recording locations on the device. Sending is the time between transmitting the points recorded subsequent to the most previous send. Sending intervals may be set to 10 minutes or greater while logging may be set to 10 or less. Both may be set to OFF.

I suggest that you set logging to 10 sec and sending to 1 minute and test on a several minute walk. You can watch the track develop on Earthmate and the inReach should send the points up to your inReach account site.
  • There are a couple of things you can check from your account at inreach.garmin.com. First, check the options that control what shows up on the MapShare page. Click the Social tab. In the upper right corner, click the Options button. This opens a pop-up window which controls what shows up on MapShare.

Look for the section Hide Older MapShare Data. If there is a date in the box, click the Clear button. This will ensure that all available data (all the way back in time) will be shown.

At the bottom, look for the section "Message types that visitors can see". Make sure all the boxes are checked. This ensures that all available data is shown.

Click the Save button at the bottom. I'm not changes made here are retroactive (that is, they apply to data already sent from the inReach) or if they only apply going forward. Pretty sure they're retroactive, but not absolutely sure.

Now go to your MapShare page. In the upper left corner, just under the Garmin logo, there is a section for "Map Filters". If this does NOT say "Map Filters Off", turn them off. If necessary, click the triangle to the left of the "Map Filters" title so you can see the filters. Click the Clear Filters button. This ensures that MapShare itself is not filtering visible information by date.

At this point, you should be able to see your old data (unless the MapShare options aren't retroactive). Either way, generate a new track and send a message or two to MapShare. You should definitely be able to see those.
  • Keep in mind that all text messages will show up on the Earthmate app and on your explore web portal. BUT your MapShare page will only show text messages that included MapShare as one of the recipients.

  • Yes, sent track points (as opposed to logged track points) do show up on MapShare. Tested this as recently as last Friday. I am using an Explorer+, but that really should not make any difference.

  • Here you go. I have filters on the MapShare page which show just my most recent track. Otherwise, too much clutter.

This is part of an "out and back" track, which is why there are two lines so close together. The large blue circles represent sent track points. The straight connecting lines are filled in by the web site. I have not sync-d the logged points for this track, which are at much closer intervals. If I had, the logged points would show up as smaller blue dots. And the straight lines would be "curved" to connect the logged points.
