InReach 1.5 Signal LED Flashing Red

I know this unit is old and discontinued at this point but I bought it brand new about 4 years ago and have just gotten around to actually needing it. The issue I'm having is even outside in my semi-open backyard I seem to get the red Signal LED a lot when trying to send messages. This is going to get used with my motorcycle a lot and there will be times where I'm in tree cover more than my backyard. Am I going to have issues with this unit locking on satellites?

The Signal LED will flash green when just walking around the yard but it goes red when trying to push a message.

I also use the inReach 1.5 and for me it works flawlessly. Often in a city or build-up area the red light will flash a while when trying to send a message but it always works in the end, that is: then flashes green and then the msg is sent. The appeal of the older inReach is that is uses replaceable batteries! I have had significant issues of late in getting the device to transfer via bluetooth to my Android phone any message that was received whilst the device was in stand-alone mode (without the phone paired) but I have found a workaround and if you want to know more please send me a personal message. Obviously you should ensure the device is pointed up and in the clear, also avoid having any other phone/GPS/device within few feet to reduce any interference. Bear in mind the red light also relates to lack of GPS reception which would be caused by interference from other devices. Are you using it next to a paging or mobile phone or TV transmitter. My inReach 1.5 remains; until Garmin break it; the Perfect off-grid communication device.
