KML API Feed

Hi,

Has anyone noticed the InReach KML feed lagging for extended duration with feed data not being provided in a reasonably timely fashion?

I've noticed the feed might be delayed over 30 minutes however when reviewing the map the data returned is a lot more detailed.

This is a problem for us as we're trying to return realtime updates to our users, a 30+ minute lag isn't a workable solution, other devices such as spot etc. dont have this problem with their feeds.

This is a particularly obvious issue as the KML feed only returns the last lat, lon. If some historical points were also returned the feed might be a little more useful in alleviating the gap in updates.

Is there any plan to update/address issues the InReach KML feed service?

Thanks,

Aaron
  • Can't speak to the lag. That's something that only Garmin can address.

From what I recall, you can ask for more than the most recent location via one of the two feed mechanisms. You can specify a data/time range in the request. However, I don't remember the details.

    Hi Tom,

I haven't been able to find any documentation which details a date/timing request for retrieving data... did you have any links or examples handy by any chance?

  • Not sure how up to date this is since it's a still a DeLorme link. But it's all I've got.
