InReach Explorer and Garmin Basecamp software

Can BaseCamp be used to read and write to the Delorme InReach?
  • The only software which communicates with inReach devices is the Sync program. This requires Internet access and is invoked from the Sync tab while logged into your account on the explore.delorme.com web site. (I'm sure this site will make the transition to the Garmin domain eventually.)

The sync process handles firmware updates, as well as the transfer of user data such as contacts, preset and quick text messages, etc. For devices which are capable of navigation, it handles the transfer of waypoints, routes, and logged tracks.

If that leaves other questions, please post again and we'll do what we can to help.
  • I not familiar with Basecamp; however, I have used the following to load waypoint and track data from other sources onto an inReach:

From the inReach host site, explore.delorme.comn, select the Map page and then click on the button Import and you will see:
    Import Data
You can import files (GPX, KML, KMZ) that contain waypoints and track logs into your account and then sync that data onto your inReach Explorer. Sources include websites that offer waypoints and trails for download and other GPS devices that have an export feature.
Drop files to upload, or click here.

The "sync" mentioned is that which is referred to in the post above by twolpert, whereby data imported from other sources into that host site will be transferred onto an inReach device. Hopefully, Basecamp is a source of that data.
