Find my phone doesn't ring. (but does flash the light)...sometimes!

Sometimes (~1 in 10) Find My Phone only flashes the light and doesn't ring. This is NOT related to the volume being turned down. When it is working, it overrides that OK.

Only the light flashing is not much use if the phone is face up!

Any ideas?

Usually it is. Please note that it is not the volume of the ring that must be turned up! It is the app volume that you have to increase. You can do it by increasing the volume while the function Find My Phone is activated.
