Fenix 5s gave up

Dear community,

I bought a Fenix 5s four years back. A few weeks back, it stopped working. I first thought it was the battery. I could charge it, but it died again when I unplugged the watch. This sounds like the battery had completely died. But then I thought about it more. Wouldn't it give signs before, and isn't it odd going from working well to zero in an instant? I called a repair shop, and they said it would be very expensive to fix. Any ideas? Maybe I am old school, but I had hope of an expensive watch lasting more than four years.

Hoping for feedback!

Linus

  • I have several devices with rechargeable batteries that lasted far longer than 4 years, so that is not an unreasonable expectation. It is unusual to see total battery failure without preceding symptoms such as decreased capacity, so I don't recommend replacing the battery yourself because it is something else in the 5s might be broken. You can contact Garmin Support to discuss options, they have out-of-warranty replacement that will be way cheaper than a new watch.
