help me chosing the right model for SKITOURING/HIKING/RUNNING

Hi. I am looking for a GPS watch to be used mainly when running, when hiking, when skitouring/splitboarding. I would like something simple and that does not suck my time/life, rather solve it. I'd like to read in one go which altitude I am at, how many vertical meters I have done, how is my heartbit, how long ago i did start, what time is it.

Which is the SportMoe I must have? is the Climbpro?

Also, i'd like some good battery life, better if solar. GPS accuracy. Simple design and usability prevails over zillions of functions that I will never use. Obviously having the maps might be nice, however if it makes everything more complicated i can forego.

I understand that watch heart monitor are not accurate, but there is no way i am going to wear a chest band.

I am also considering second hand to save some money and i understand that these models can be good for me: Instinct 2 or Instict 2S solar or Fenix 5 or some frontrunner.

I started reading something online, but the amount of information available, websites, different models, contrasting opinions is way more that I can afford to read and digest.

thank you very much in advance

  • All I can say is this.... I'm an outdoor instructor as well as a SAR team leader, I came from SUUNTO to Garmin 18months ago.. My watch is the 5x and I Mountain ski, Mountain climbing, Kayak , cave, Hike and so much more  both professionally and for leisure world wide.. and my 5x is spot on,does everything you want and have asked and so much more.. For battery I have one of the small powerbanks and that will keep my 5x charged for upto 3-4 weeks of actual gps use depending on how much I use it etc...  And best of all almost all bugs have been solved in the watch... I have looked at the new watches and see very little need to upgrade so will not be bothering until my 5x is dead, smashed or looks like trash..
