Not sure if the newer watches are any better but my Fenix 5 is awful on trails. I use strava and my maps are never even close to the trail maps on strava and I always compare my runs to others of similar segments and my watch is so far off (with less distance) because it doesn't account for hardly any of the twists and turns. I did a moderate paced trail run today and this one long climb came out about 1.3 miles while others on Strava have 1.5-1.77 for the same segment and it looks like theirs are way more accurate as their maps are actually close to following the trail and mine is not. This bothers me because I'm running pretty hard and its giving me a pace of 14+ minutes per mile when I know I normally run no more that 10-11 mins a mile even on hard trails (I run 7:30 pace on flat roads typically). I have the watch set to GPS +GLONASS after reading up on it but it seems to be even worse in terms of accuracy with that on. I'm attaching a picture of today's map. I've been thinking of "upgrading" to one of the newer Garmins but from what I've read they aren't any more accurate on trails. I feel like my particular watch is just so far off compared to others with similar watches. Any suggestions?
