Nothing works except GPS and watch. This is just in the last two days, it was fine on Sunday. Any clues? Model is Fenix 5 Sapphire

Hi, Joe, my Fenix 5X Saphire also started to have problems a couple of weeks ago (barometer, altimeter and temperature sensors stopped working) and died today.
This morning I had it set to wake me up at 5 am to catch a flight, but it didn't due to complete collapse. It will not comes back to life at all.
Put my old Fenix 3 back on my wrist and minutes ago contacted Garmin and I am going to have it "replaced" for €175.
Garmin staff don't care about his products and do not give any explanation about this failures. I cannot agree that a 550 pound watch bought in December 2017, will collapse like this and that I need to pay this amount for a new one. I hope this is not a programmed failure just to keep us buying new ones or giving them money. Only accept the deal, because I still love it and have a couple of half marathons coming soon, but I may consider moving from Garmin soon.

Good luck with finding a manufacturer offering a 5 years long warranty. If you find one, please let us know.
Oh dear! Doesn’t sound promising for me. I only bought mine in 2020 but the warranty is only one year anyway. Funny - my response was also to put my old Fenix 3 on my wrist. I’ll call Garmin support (but if I have to shell out for a replacement I’ll consider biting the bullet on a new model)
I would consider going for a new model, but... because mine was already 5 years, they diid not gave me an option.
Or have the same model for €175 euros or nothing... by the way, still love 5X which gives me all I need
Well, I have a couple of Polar with 6 and 9 years still working, I have still my Longines with 30 years working fine, Citizen with 25 years working lovely... what I do not really like is a brand with gives problem after problem with 550 pound item after less than 5 years.
I don't need warranty if it still works... and basically they are sending me an old watch for 175 euros... not bad for them

And there are plenty of users with 10 years old Garmin devices. And I bet that you will certainly also find people with Polars, or even Longines, or Citizen watches that failed after a few years of use too. It is all matter of probability, and (bad) luck. If your F5 failed now, it does not mean yet all Fenix 5 watches fail after 5 years. And if your Polar or Longines fails now, they will not replace it free either
Yup. Now wearing my old Fenix 3. Still going strong (just battery is a bit weaker than it used to be). Fenix 5 going in for replacement
