Any Fenix 5 app to input weight to Connect (yet)?

I have a ton of Garmin products and want to use the Connect platform to track my health, not just fitness (e.g. I am using paper and pen to track my weight and blood pressure currently - embarrassing in this day and age). My understanding is that with the supported ConnectIQ API, and/or .FIT file format for the Fenix 5, there's no way to upload weight to Connect from the watch (or I'd invest the time to write an app to do so). Can someone confirm? I am debating an upgrade to Fenix 6 or 7, but frankly as someone who suffers from atrial fibrillation I am also waiting for Garmin to catch up with Apple and support ECG.

  • You are correct the Fenix series does not track your weight. You can update your profile weight on your watch and it will sync to your Garmin Connect profile but that is not a historical tracking of your weight displayed in a nice graph.

You have two weight tracking options:

    1) Manually update your weight using either the Connect Mobile APP on your smartphone or by using your Garmin Connect account on the web:

    2) Automatically update your weight using the Index Smart Scale:

  • Thanks Chris. Do you know if I could write an app to embed that data into a FIT file for consumption by the platform? I wake up with the Fenix' alarm clock, take my BP, sync the watch pretty much as I'm weighing myself in the bathroom, then suit up and bike into work. For my use case I was hoping to use the watch to enter the weight manually, and having studied the specs for FIT, it seems as if I'd be able to enter some 'static' data-points, but the shortcomings seem on the Connect side (?). I'm a capable enough programmer to write the app, but data ingestion seems the barrier... and I don't have the appetite to reverse-engineer your Index Smart Scale, nor do I want to carry it with me on business trips.

  • I am sorry, no. Here is a Connect IQ APP that stores the last 60 weight entries but it does mention it is not possible to sync weight into Garmin Connect since that is not an option on the Connect side:
