Best way to transfer Waypoints and routes

So I know there's a few topics similar in nature but most are very old so software has moved on hence asking the question.

The question is a simple one really but I suspect the answers will not be as simply.

What is the best way to transfer Waypoints/Pois and routes to the fenix watch?? Not the caveat is this, It has to be done WITHOUT an WIFI / Data connection and must not use the pathetic Explore app(who in the right mind actually thinks this is good is beyond me).. The reason for the question is several times recently I have been in the mountains working and could not transfer a damn thing to the watch as The apps require you to have a frigging data connection even though I was creating and sending to the watch from my phone via bluetooth. Why you must be connected to the internet is a damn stupid idea and effectively kills part of the functions of the watch..

So please share your thoughts and suggestions with why you do it that way.. Hopefully it will help me and many otheres.

The only way I know would be you to have a computer and use Garmin’s Basecamp but I guess you were not planning to take a computer to the mountains …

Battery wouldn't last long enough and I only have a 20m extension cord so will not reach far enough to charge it LOL

Come on folks I can't be the only one who has faced this and needed a solution..

Just need an app where I can send individual POIS/waypoints or routes to the Watch from my phone without the need to have a data connection.....

Well, I do not quite understand why you do not send the routes or waypoints to the watch in advance, but if you do not want to use Garmin Explore, then you could perhaps find a suitable app in the Connect IQ store. I did not test any, but a quick search shows for example this one, that could perhaps do the trick: gimporter - Import FIT/GPX from Android Device

I guess you have never just been out and thought what would be the best way up that mountain and planned a route on the go?? Or been out in poor weather and changed the route as needed to get to safety.. Same with poor weather and vis but could see a mountain hut or bothy on the map and decided that would be a safe option to wait it out for a while...

See there are a few VERY good reasons why you might not have the routes etc on the watch....

As to the gimporter option its good for routes but has always failed to send individual waypoints/POIs. Just says they are downloaded already and never shows in the list... I have tried several others but all use their own map which requires you to be connected to the internet... I am looking for a solution where you can use another app to create the waypoints/routes etc and then send them to the watch... I personal use Viewranger and Oruxmaps on my phone so being able to plan then send from them as they are offline mapping solutions would be perfect.

Try contacting the author of Gimporter if you have problems with some type of files. Perhaps he can fix it.

For those interested..

The solution I have found is IQmapreciever..... Despite the bad reviews(reason I avoided it originally) and an odd quirk of haveing to being airplane mode for it to work via BT it actually works perfectly for sending waypoints and routes from the phone to the Tablet... It will send them directly from the app(you share to the IQmapreciever) or from a gpx/fit file you have on the phone... It is far from perfect but at least it is actually working..... Hope that helps others...
