Fenix 5 and HRM band

I have a Fenix 5 and the Garmin Dual HRM chest strap. I don't like how the Fénix 5 sensor measures me, I think it's a problem with my narrow and bony wrists.

Is there a way to tell if the FCC measurement during an activity is being done by the Garmin chest strap or wrist sensor? When I change the battery to the HRM it does strange things (especially at the beginning of the activity) and I don't know if it measures correctly despite the "fcc monitor connected" warning. I would prefer to be able to see it on the watch during the activity but even later in the app it works for me.

  • When you start an activity, your wrist heart rate OHR sensor is automatically turned off when your HRM strap is being worn. You can confirm your HRM-Dual is connected in your Settings > Sensors & Accessories menu. Also, in your Sensors & Accessories menu, you can turn off your wrist heart rate sensor.

If your HRM-Dual strap is worn correctly and is reading you correctly, it should be providing you with accurate information. If you confirm the HRM strap is not reading you well, change the batteries and test again.

If you continue to have issues, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • Alright, now I can tell when the band is connected. Thank you Chris.

Regarding the battery, I think I have found the solution. After trying several brands, a Panasonic battery works fine.

    Cheers and thank you again.
