Garmin adding features to old models? Don't count on it.
It would be very simple for Gamrin if they used a shared code base for all their watches, like almost every other company does. But Garmin seems to fork their code for every model so changes for 1 model doesn't show up on others. I suspect they do this on purpose in the hope they sell more watches.
The old suunto 9 (baro) gets the same new features that the new suunto 9 peak has.

(altough I have to admit suunto isn’t the brand I look at anymore and I did have 2 great suunto’s in the past. I’m not here to bash garmin or to annoy garmin fanboys. I would like to see garmin doing better. Fixing more bugs in stead of making shareholders more happy. I know, I know. Silly, but let me dream)
You actually stated share their code which is why I commented. To me this is different to updates.. As to Suunto. My fenix 5x is my first ever Garmin. I was Suunto ALL the way right from the Suunto Vector to the Ambit 3 peak... Loved their watches etc and then Suunto started really stabbing users in the back..

Fair enough. I used to have a Suunto t3c and then a ambit 3. My now ancient forerunner 935 is my first garmin watch. The battery is showing it’s age but I don’t see any new features in newer watches that will change the way I run/trail/hike/bike and do my daily stuff. So, I’m fine with it.
Same here when it comes to new features on my Fenix 5x.. Had it 6 months. Have looked at both the 6 and 7 series and other than batery life and SPo2 there is nothing new in them I would like. I am not even in to using my watch for music so thats out too... I work and play in the mountains. And the F5x has everything I need, then add to that the amazing custom widgets and app's. The watch just rocks.... And as you stated the watch doesn't change how you do your activites etc... They are just a time piece with some handy features that assist you in the activities.....
