fenix 5x unresponsive - not charging and Garmin CS not helpful.

I used a fenix3 for years until it died. (it went into a boot loop and would not respond)

I replaced it with a fenix5X which I received as a gift.

A few days ago my fenix5X stopped charging - and at 3% it switched off - currently black screen and unresponsive.

I have tried all resets suggested on the forums but no luck - Have tried several power outlets, purchased new charging cables - tried syncing to Garmin Express all without luck.

I have emailed Garmin CS and had a fast reply - but they cannot help because I don't have my proof of purchase.

I have had two Garmin watches - both have died for no apparent reason and I am pretty disappointed at the lack of reliability and also with the poor customer service.

These two watches are now heading for landfill - which is a real shame - as Garmin have not been able to help fix the problem.

I will not purchase another Garmin product and will warn my friends to avoid.

I think I'm going to buy a Wahoo.

  • I am sorry you had a watch issue and an issue warranty replacing your watch.

Your watch was released in March 2017. If you are certain you bought your Fenix 5X within the last year, please highlight my name and send me a Private Message. Thank you.

  • Hi Chris sorry to hijack this here but I've been trying to PM you on this and other posts but clicking on your name gives me a blank page. I've posted a similar thread up with an issue I'm having with my fenix 5 plus. Are you able to help me with troubleshooting? I've just posted the new thread now. Thank you in advance.

  • Certainly Garmin can check the date of purchase or the very 1st time device connected to Connect App. Not a very good response I would say from a company with a really week excuse. I'm one of those people who always end up loosing receipts and never had a problem with any vendors just because I could not provide receipt. Hope Garmin comes to the senses.

  • We are not able to see the date of purchase unless you buy a product directly from us and we ship it to you from our official warehouse. There are a wide variety of factors where we will not always be able to confirm the warranty. Are we able to often confirm the warranty, yes. Certainly not always.
