do any map controls work during an activity on Fenix 5 (zoom in/out)

Question

After an activity you can zoom in/out and move around on the map 
 But during it seems like there are no controls (if it's added as a data screen) 
 You are stuck with it's zoom in and auto-rotation? 
 Or am I missing something?

I have a 5X and if I am on the map screen during an activity I can hold the "UP/MENU" (middle button on the left) and get to a menu option to PAN/ZOOM. You need to hold (long press) the button to bring up the menu.
