[5X] USB data connection broken, can I access to file system through wifi?

Hi,

the USB data connection of my Fenix 5X seems to be broken: the PC does recognize the fenix (nothing happens at connection), tried with different PCs. I also bought a back case spare part since the USB connector were oxidated and worn out, but nothing change.

Since I want to update maps and be able to save my settings, is there anothr possibility to access to the fenix file system, like through wifi? (Even if I undesrtood that che wifi is on only for the time of synching...).

Some Garmin expert could help me?

I am sorry your Fenix 5X has a connection issue with your computer. Regarding your question, the only means to access your Fenix 5X file system and to update your mapping is with a direct connection to your computer's USB port. Wi-Fi cannot be used for that purpose.

You can also try a full master reset if the rear connection point is not the issue, it might resolve your computer(s) reading your watch:

If he resets the watch and the usb connexion is still broken, won't he lose the maps completely ?

You say you tried with a new back, but did you try with another cable ? You may also toggle the usb mode in the watch settings just in case.

No. A master reset does not delete maps on our Fenix series watches.

Done also the secondary master reset but stil have no connection.

I will do, even if I do not think there's a solution that is not the main board replacement (too expensive).
