Fenix 5 and Inreach during an Activity

I have my inReach Mini paired with my Fenix 5. I download courses to the Fenix 5 that I then hike. When on a hike I am navigating a course during an activity on the Fenix 5. How do I use my Fenix 5 to send a preset message through my inReach Mini when navigating a course on the Fenix 5, without disrupting the activity.

BC, assuming you have installed the inReach widget on your watch and they are paired (sounds like you are set up) then:

When in an activity, long press the bottom left button which takes you to the watchface…

You are correct. Part of your initial setup of your InReach device will be using the Explore webpage and syncing your presets to your inReach. - Explore Web.

If you need to send a message to your inReach Mini when already invested in using your Fenix 5 while recording an activity, use the Earthmate APP on your smartphone. No need to have cellular when super rural since you are only using the Bluetooth between your phone and inReach to send the message and now you will have a full keyboard on your smartphone to send the message.

Through your watch to send 1 of your presets if your phone is not an option needed: Using the inReach Remote.

Thanks Chris - I was hoping to go click click on the watch without having to dig out the phone or inReach

BC, assuming you have installed the inReach widget on your watch and they are paired (sounds like you are set up) then:

When in an activity, long press the bottom left button which takes you to the watchface (activity keeps running). You can access the widgets, including inReach messages. To go back to the activity hit the start button. Hitting the Lap/Back button will also back you out of the widget to the activity but it is easy to hit it an extra time and add a lap to whatever sport you are doing.

A while ago there was some issue with the watch not disconnecting from the inReach properly and using a lot of battery but I believe it was fixed - I don't normally bother to pair my watch and inReach so I was not following this closely so double check.

Earthmate doesnt support sending presets. Or, at least I cant find out how.
