Fenix 5x not saving activities

Looking for advice with an issue I have been having over the past month. Occasionally when I end an activity on my Fenix 5x -- has happened with both trail running and hiking -- it simply disappears. Luckily I have Garmin Explore on my phone and the track will still show there. It seems like the timestamp data is disappearing and thus not saving. If it weren't for Garmin Explore, I would lose the track entirely but I am able to download the GPX that way -- it just does not have any of the other accompanying data like HR, pace, etc.

Any idea why? Any fixes in mind?

I have not been able to find anything about an issue like this on any Garmin forum.

A lot of corruption, which is typical of a recovered file. This is what I got after attempting to repair

What happens if you do a manual upload of the activity (.fit file)? How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

Possibly the activities that aren't uploading are corrupt.

Unfortunately, I have not found a way to even get the .fit file. It disappears entirely from the watch, even if I plug it in to the computer and look for it manually. I have only found how to share the .gpx from Garmin Explore via email. I can add a manual timestamp and then manually upload it to connect but then it doesn't have true time data.

So you're looking in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder and there's nothing there. If the file is somehow getting deleted, you have a small chance of recovering it using a file recovery tool such as recuva. Other than that, might be good to do a backup and clean of all the files in that folder. An excessive amount of files can cause issues. At least that would decrease the chances of it happening again.

I was able to recover a small portion of the activity using that tool. Seems like it is getting corrupt somehow. I will back up and clean that file folder and test it on another day. Thank you for your help.

Thank you to both fo your for your help! That's the first half of my trip before I paused for an extended break. I wonder if that has something to do with the corruption I've been getting. I haven't had any shorter runs around home get corrupted, only longer hikes or trail runs. Thoughts?

I did clear the activities folder on my device and will try recording a longer activity hopefully this coming weekend. We'll see, it's been totally random.
