Fenix 5 22.40 high battery drain

With every firmware upgrade people are complaining about battery drains. Most can be solved by a restart of your watch. Don’t know if you tried that.

But since quite a few people complain and it happens with every firmware update there is definitely something wrong with garmins update process. Garmin doesn’t seem to be care and is seems they are not working on a fix for it.

To answer your question. Considering the number of bugs I report myself, I would say garmin doesn’t do a lot of testing. At least not nearly enough. Their reputation for delivering buggy software doesn’t bother them as long as it doesn’t affect sales.

Yes already restarted watch. Twice.

Have disconnected from phone which seems to have improved things but only 1 hour testing so far. Removed some unneeded widgets. Will see how it goes.

I was in shock after getting the update, my watch never had battery problems, but it drop battery level from 100% to 57% over night. 

But then, I have done a reset, holding light button until it goes off and after that resume to normal levels of 6 to 8% per day without activities and keeping connected with phone at least 12 hours.

If you are lucky enough it may solve this battery problem, but I completely agree with statement, actually I posted myself a comment, saying Garmin software department must be full of irresponsible kids. Most times, of not all, new releases are worst than previous versions of software.

With watch not connected to phone battery drain is normal.

Altimeter seems more stable but due to Covid lock down cannot fully test. 

Where I can download 21.00 software?! 

I have same problem.... after updating Fenix 5 to 22.40 my battery goes from ~90% to dead overnight in less than 12hrs. Restarting the watch hasn't fixed it.

What software did you have before the update? How long did your battery last?
