Accidentally Deleted My Maps

Hi,

i accidentally deleted all my files under the folder /garmin on my whatch - no i have only some useless covergae maps which are some MB in size.

How can i restore the preinstalled maps ? With garmin express there is nothing more available now.

    Due to the size of the TopoActive 2021.10 EU map being too large, the ability to add the map back to a (16GB of memory) Fenix 5X watch is currently turned off when you use Garmin Express to update. Your best option is to reach out to your regional Outdoor Product Support and ask if you can either  courtesy one-time exchange your watch to get all the maps back or if there is any other option available.

    My watch decided to reset everything on its own and the preinstalled maps were deleted. 

    Is this also the case for US TOPO maps that come with the Fenix 5X? What a horribly designed product! There must be a way to get them back...

    I am sorry you have the issue. Researching what I can see, your Fenix 5X has been in use for 6+ years. Given the length of time, your watch has likely failed. I have not personally even once worked with a Fenix 5X owner in the 6+ years since their release where the mapping was suddenly lost. Whether you can get the maps back on your watch will depend on the severity of the failure and what caused it.

    You can attempt to add the maps back using Garmin Express on your computer.

    Even though you are beyond your 1 year warranty, we maintain inventory of recertified outdoor watches for as many years as possible to provide you with the option vs. buying a new watch.
