Can’t sync third party widgets to 5x

I had some third party widgets on my 5x and now they’ve disappeared. It seems when garmin connect app (iOS) updated some watch faces it removed the widgets. Fenix 5x is on 22.20.

I can’t get connect or connectIQ app to send widgets to the watch. I was able to send 2 new watch faces. connectIQ says I have 406KB available so it doesn’t seem like a space issue.

is it bad firmware on the watch or what is happening here?

  • Please try updating your missing Connect IQ widgets using Garmin Express on your computer. As long as when you add your watch to Garmin Express, you are using the same Connect email being used with your Connect Mobile and Connect IQ APP, Garmin Express should show you all Connect IQ APPS you have past added that are either on your watch or currently removed.

You should be able to sync what is missing back to your Fenix 5X if you see those Connect IQ APPS in Garmin Express. If you do not see them, through Garmin Express, open Connect IQ through the shortcut on the update page and reinstall what you are missing. If you continue to have issues, please reach out to Product Support using the information seen at the bottom of the Support Center article for Garmin Express.

How to Install Connect IQ Content Using Garmin Express

  • I had something similar happen on Sunday. I started a bike ride and the "Dozen Cycle" data field was showing and active. After about 5km the data field disappeared. I finished the ride and noticed my GPS track was absolutely terrible, the worst I ever had. I tried to reinstall the data field but couldn't so I deleted my "RIDE" activity and recreated it. After that I was able to reinstall the data field and it looks OK so far. I will have to go for another ride to test it to be sure.

  • Unfortunately I don’t have access to a PC so I don’t have garmin express. Garmin connect on iOS should have the option to force an update that way the watch could get 22.30 or whatever the latest is.

Turning the watch off then on again has brought back the missing widgets though.
