Max heart rate measurement off?

For the past year my HR during cycling workouts has maxxed out around 170-175, which I consider pretty accurate for my age (65). But this week I registered a 185 and, yesterday, a 193, though the My Day app showed max HR at 188. Either way, it's unrealistic for someone my age to have such a high HR. My resting HR currently ranges from 53-58. For reference, 23 years ago I had a VO2 max test done in a lab where my HR maxxed out at 186. And at that point, my performance dropped off dramatically, ruling out the possibility of a higher HR. And I felt like crap afterward, unlike following my bike rides, which ran 15-20 km. Any ideas on why I'm getting such high readings now?
