Tactix Charlie Basic Recording Question

Hi!

New to the Charlie

There is a driveway near me, pretty steep. What I like to do occasionally is run up it, walk back down, then run up it again 2-3 times.

How can I set up 'something' in this watch to record the times and heart rate, etc, like a run with laps, but NOT count the downhill segments?

Thanks!

  • If I understand what you want, just use the Pause button (same as the start button for the activity).  Pause at the top, resume at the bottom. Normally I just use the lap button so I can see not only the uphill, but the heart rate recovery going down.

  • Do you use 'run' or 'climb'? Thanks!

  • Just run (or trail run).  Really not much difference from doing intervals.  As I noted I don't pause, just lap to break up the sections if I think I want to take a closer look at anything - or do nothing special and use the graphs to see and assess the various ups and downs after if needed.  I'm not sure what in particular you want to get out of the end product that needs to pause on the downhills (recovery) but, obviously that is up to you.  I tend to stick with simple. (side note - I have a 5X plus.)

  • Could you just use the "LAP" function/button?

It is usually used when doing laps of a track. You press the button at the end/start of each lap and it splits them up for analysis. You could press it twice (at the bottom and again at the top) or just once (bottom or top) each time you go up the driveway. It is not automatic but I think it will do what you want.
