Fenix 5x - removing items does not clear memory

Hi,

I have a Fenix 5X - removing maps which I don't use does not free up memory space to add other maps on there.

I have tried with both a Mac and a PC, but same problem on both - I am told the watch is full.

Has anyone got any solutions to this problem?

The message you are seeing is almost certainly nothing to do with the main storage (where the maps are stored), it is to do with the storage used for watch faces, widgets, apps, etc.... Try removing unused…

The message you are seeing is almost certainly nothing to do with the main storage (where the maps are stored), it is to do with the storage used for watch faces, widgets, apps, etc.... Try removing unused watchfaces, widgets, apps, etc. via Garmin Connect...

If it is to do with the map storage, make sure that you empty the recycle bin (Windows) or Trash Can (Mac) whilst the Fenix is attached, otherwise it doesn't really remove the maps, just marks them as deleted, but doesn't really delete them (free up the space) until you have emptied the Trash Can/Recycle Bin....

Thanks! Funnily enough, I’m trying to upload maps which I’ve bought from you, so will try again later with this method and let you know how I get on!

Happy to discuss this with you in a call, I have a Fenix 5x myself (and had a Fenix 6X for 18 months too), so use my own maps on them...

Talkytoaster - thank you so much for suggesting the solution above - all worked perfectly, and I now have all of the maps I got from you uploaded to the device!
