fēnix 5 - Altimeter broken again... who else is suffering from this!?

Garmin is driving me mad... My altimeter is broken again, just received a refurb from Garmin which is not working and every time it's the same story, got to return the watch so I can't train properly for a couple of week and i have manually re-create all my profiles...

Who else is having ongoing issue with their altimeter?

Please don't sent me those link - i know them by heart, been there so many times!

If the issues are persisting please try the test below and advise us if the local and base values change at all

Power off the watch
Press and hold Down
Press and release Power, continue to hold down
Once in test mode, press Back button 8 times
Can we have a photo sent over of the screen.

I am sorry you are having an issue with your altimeter. The most critical article that helps prevent an issue with either the barometric altimeter and/or the temperature sensor port, since they are both open to the air and exposed to the world's environments, is this Support Center article: Wear and Care Tips.

I have the same issue. I'm out of warranty though. Just know that I don't climb 10 flights of stairs before getting out of bed!

I have the same problem. I am out of warranty and the technical service only gives me the solution to do a Factory reset, I already did 3, or pay € 165 for a reconditioned watch that may fail again.I paid € 450 for this service.

Are you sure? I've had some busy nights before that my watch (and unfortunately my wife) knew more about than I did.

Hi, I've got this issue too. Been sent 2 refurbished ones by Gamin and latest one now gone the same way- altimeter not working and whilst it's less than a year old as its a refurb it only has 3 month warranty. Ridiculous as clearly it's a known fault

I am sorry there is an issue. If you swim, once you are done, make sure you thoroughly rinse your barometric altimeter and temperature ports on the right side of your watch. Vigorously shake your watch to remove as much as water as possible. The most you can do is keep your barometric altimeter port as clean as possible with no salt water, soap, or any other substances that can build up.

Like you and Charmcc13, I've had the same problem, and an on my second watch (a refurb). It just broke as well. So, now, Over $600 into a watch, the only options are another refurb (which we all know now will break again, outside of any warranty) or 20% of a full priced watch WITH return of the old one. I'm looking at COROS now. These watches are an investment and should last more than 2 years and Garmin should do better in standing behind their products.

Yeah sorry to read this - Im on my second Fenix 5 also - Alt broken again - So disappointing I dont want to buy another Garmin because i know I will encounter the same problem -
