I have some land in the country. I would like to put the border on my Fenix 5x map. Seems like this should be simple, but I haven't figured it out yet. Does anybody know an easy way?

I agree that it sounds like it should be something easy to do, but it turns out, unless you have a series of GPS coordinates that represent your properly border, that were given to you by professional level surveyor tools to drop those waypoints along your properly to then connect them a variety of ways, there is no easy way to go about what you are needing. If your plot of land borders are straight lines, you would need the GPS coordinates for each corner and then you could connect them with various tools.
There may be customers that will jump in and give suggestions but what you are hoping to do is seldom ever done with an outdoor watch and is the type of question that comes up on occasion for our handheld GPS devices.
I am sending you a Private Message to learn more from you and I will be happy to assist as much as possible.
Hi,
There some alternatives:
1) if you can see your land using Google Earth you can draw a pathway take a snapshot of the screen and use this image to create a custom map to your Fenix.
2) If can not see it but can walk around it you can record your walk and use IMGfromGPX to create a map of your lan.
regards,
Yes. It's odd. I see and can find references to dropping KMZ files in the customMaps directory, but can't find specs on exactly what can go in there.
Making kml and kmz files is dead simple if you just know what the device supports.
The Fenix watches are absolutely amazing tech, but I understand they cannot support every feature of kml and have a decent battery life. I would be great if I knew exactly what the 5x works with.
