Fenix 5s Screen Flashing while recording activity

Recently noticed a number of buggy features on my 5s. Three key issues I am seeing:

1. First the maps stopped recording so I followed instructiuons on here for a hard restart (long press top left botton for 15 seconds) which resolved the mapping issue.

2. Since the hard reset however when I switch to recording activities the screen starts flashing and swtiching betwen black and white background. It makes it very hard to record activities, particularly when on white background, I can barely read the screen at all. I have to navigate the menu by memory to start and save activities.

3. the backlight has stopped working.

Any tips?

  • I am sorry you are having issues. The hard restart in itself would not be enough to cause a more serious issue unless there was an issue already developing that has unfortunately, now come out…

The type of issue you are having, since it is hardware based, your watch will need to be exchanged. Please reach out to your region's Garmin Outdoor Product Support team.
