Fenix 5 Battery Drain overnight-Ok during day

Last 5 days my Fenix 5 battery has drained from 80% to 4%/Zero overnight whilst asleep. There are no drain issues during the day despite completing a number of recorded activities.

Why is the watch draining overnight and how can I fix it?

  • That's the million dollar question! I Whish I knew! I have the same problem.

  • After 10 weeks of enormously battery drainage and trying about everything I still don't have a solution. Neither does the Garmin helpdesk. They don't respond to my questions. The only remarkable thing is that the drainage during a recorded activity is normal. What could that mean? Does it mean that the proces that causes the drainage is not workig during an activity? And if so, what proces could that be?

  • Sleeptracking?

But I don't know (and to be honest doubt it) there are additional processes running for sleeptracking during the time you set as sleeptime. Sleeptracking is all based on tracking movement, and that's a process that's also active during the day. It does calculate some random numbers for deepsleep, lightsleep and remsleep.

Don't know if you can disable sleeptracking, but you could set your sleeptime to a ridiculous short period.

  • For the moment I'm desperate so I'm going to try it.

  • Unfortunallly no succes. I reduced the sleepingtime to 1 minute but this morning the drainage was still at 40% a day. But thanks for thinking!

  • I may have and other idea. Is your watch connected to your phone by bluetooth and is your phone out of reach during the night?

If so, maybe your watch is trying very hard to restore the bluetooth connection to your phone.

Do you have a do not disturb time configured during sleep time? I have, and maybe that prevents the watch from trying to hard to connect via bluetooth.

  • Yes, my watch is connected to my phone by bluetooth and yes my phone is nearby during the night. maximum 1 meter (3 ft.) away. I have the do not disturb me on during sleep. Thanks for thinking with me again!

  • Recently had same problem w Fenix 5 plus.

    1.  Discovered that I had some really early morning alarms that I'd set when I had to catch an early flight but that I never turned off. Turns out my body was ignoring them, so I slept through about 3 alarms between 4 am and 5:30 am. I sleep hard.

    2.  But second, I again discovered that my watch has been beating itself crazy trying unsuccesfully to connect to my phone. I switched it to "phone connection disabled," and things are back to normal. I do not know how this setting gets turned on. I connect to my phone/upload watch info ONLY on wifi at home. I don't know how it gets set to looking for my phone. Maybe a firmware resets it?

I don't know. but those tow things solved it for me.
