Forcing ANT+ over Bluetooth on external HRMex

Hi,

I recently bought an Cycplus HRM H1 (optical) to wear om my arm instead of the chest strap.

The cycplus sends out Ant+ and Bluetooth.

My fenix5 only finds the bluetooth signal. And it isn't stable. (useless actually)

When I connect the Cyclplus with my phone (bluetooth) it works a lot better. Almost good.

When I connect the Cycplus with my Lezyne bike GPS it connects with Ant+  (because I can choose in the GPS Ant+ or Bluetooth). Then the Cycplus work perfect. (almost as accurate as the HR strap)

It seems like the Cycplus work good, it just isn't compatible with Garmin. But a Ant+ signal is a very basic signal. So it must be compatible on the Garmin, if I could only force a connection with Ant+ over Bluetooth.

Or is there a third party app to install on the watch that gives more possabilities?

Cycplus support is non existent.

  • both ant and bluetooth use the same 2.4ghz frequency and probably the same antenna/radio in the fenix

but the fenix5 notoriously has a weak/bad antenna problem, stryd actually had to improve their pod somehow to deal with it

however it still could be a software bug on either side, either the garmin or the cycplus

there is a garmin app by a 3rd party that can record a HRM ant device seperately to the FIT file, maybe see if it can detect your armband since it's just broadcasting as a HRM

  • Thanks. But the link doesn't work.

    I tried this one:

Flexible data display from ANT data

    • FooBarEngineering

But I can't get it to work. The display stays empty.
