Hey, I saw couple people complaining about no status of training, its just saying "Run out doors with heart rate twice to see your status" So where is the problem and when this will be fixed? Because I'm running 3 times a week and I don't know how to fix this. Garmin fenix 5

Same issue. Has anyone been able to fix it?

  • same issue, I have all the other training load data and I only do outside runs!! Garmin sprt this out as this is supposed to be a quality product

  • Hi there, it is not only to run twice a week. If you run slowly and yourheart rate is low,  or use trail run, it will not calculate Vo2 max and not show training status. This is what user manual says:

The training status feature depends on updated assessments of your fitness level, including at least two VO2 max. measurements per week. Your VO2 max. estimate is updated after outdoor runs or rides during which your heart rate reached at least 70% of your maximum heart rate for several minutes. The trail run and indoor run activities do not generate a VO2 max. estimate in order to preserve the accuracy of your fitness level trend.

To get the most out of the training status feature, you can try these tips.

At least two times per week, run or ride outdoors with a power meter, and reach a heart rate higher than 70% of your maximum heart rate for at least 10 minutes.
After using the device for one week, your training status should be available.

Record all of your fitness activities on this device, or enable the Physio TrueUpTm feature, allowing your device to learn about your performance (Syncing Activities and Performance Measurements).

Let us know if this helped.

My training status worked perfectly fine up until mid November and if anything I increased my training (I literally ran a marathon last week). I saw in another thread that some users realised the gps was automatically changed to UltraTrac (which doesn’t calculate VO2 max and therefore the training status) after a system upgrade. It might be worth checking if that’s the case.

  • Ok,so your pace is as high that your HR is over 70% of maximum for at least 10 minutes and  two times per week?

  • Same issue. The Fenix 6 records the performance data (load, benefit, heart rate etc...) but NO training status. Same message: use your device to track one or two weeks of runs that have VO2 Max data. I run every day with the Fenix 6s.  Do we know when the bug will be fixed?

  • I run 6 days a week outdoor with at least 70% of my max heart rate for quite a long time: still NO training status. I own a Fenix 6s last software update 12.20

  • That was helpful.  I wish, however, Garmin would just be specific and say Running Training Status / Cycling Training Status because if you do a lot of indoor workouts (treadmill, HIIT, etc) , my training status is always blank.

  • Same issue just in the past 2 days. I also found that if I am using Garmin edge fir cycling, my Fenix will not take that effort into account fir status. It will show in Garmin connect and on the watch. I do have “ Physio TrueUp” selected on both devices.

  • 6 times a week is a lot, hope you also have recovery? That's different topic anyway. Can you share one typical run?  You can send to me in private message.
