Hi,

(french, sorry for the langage)

Altimeter - calibrate manual : fail
Altimeter - calibrate auto : fail

Barometer - calibrate manual : fail
Barometer - calibrate auto : fail

Test with : set auto cal during activity and not during activity both OFF or permanent
Check different post on the forum, but all failed

Strange, after actiity the different elevation "points" looks good, but not the cumul, It's two to three times more than after elevation correction on garmin website .

Mail send to garmin support, request well taken into account, but need additional information (delivery address) ... still waiting for a response for 1 month

Thanks for any help!

I tried to translate it in english

  • Three times more sounds like feet vs. meter. Have you checked this?

  • It sounds like your Altimeter/Barometer/Temperature is not working - not completely clear from your description but if the calibrations are failing...

What does your ABC widget show (or any of the individual ones)?  If they ae not working (blank or stuck at some crazy number) then you likely have a serious sensor issue.  Keep in mind that the barometric altimeter is based on the air pressure sensor and the temperature sensor so if either of these is not working then then the barometric altimeter is not working.  I'm guessing but it is possible that without the barometric altitude available, the watch is switching to the GPS altitude during the activity.  Then you are seeing the difference between this and the elevation correction method on the website.- regardless, if you have a sensor problem this is the fundamental issue here.

If you haven’t done the basics already try a soft reset, diagnostic mode (instructions below) then full reset.  Support would put you through these steps anyway. I would not keep waiting for support to respond but keep at them (calls can work better depending on your area).  Hopefully it is not a sensor issue as these can rarely be sorted out other than a replacement watch.   I'd google translate this into French but but my French is not good enough to really clean it up after so I'll leave it in English.

    FYI diagnostic mode;

    Switch off the device.
Press the down button and hold it
Press the light button to switch on the device, let it go when the garmin triangle appears
let the light button go when diagnostic page 1 comes up.
the lap button will walk through the pages.

it's  random , some sample : with website correction / raw data

    31km 3200D+ / 3750D+ (2700D+ with strava,  my guess is 2800/2900) ;  mountain trail
    7,23km   155D+/556D+ ;  forest
    10,8km  28mD+/508mD+ ; road/intervall running
12,5km 413D+/981mD+ ; mixt  <=> image above. Altitude good but not cumulative  elevation

I think your guess was right. Diagnostic mode :

    Baro Test :

    Valid : Invalid
    Local press : .....,..
    Base press : 102686,66
    Local Alt :  259,72 (good)
    Bare Temp (C) : ..,..

  • You can check if the sensor hole is blocked but chances are either the temperature or pressure sensor is broken (note that if the Temperature sensor is broken this will "break" the general pressure functions.  You can try a master reset if you have not already but don't be optimistic sadly.  You will need to push support.
