GPS Positions

I've started using my 5x to mark waypoints. In my case dive sites whilst on a boat. I'm not interested in tracks, trails, distance etc. just the spot I'm floating in.

Question 2

Is there any software, Garmin or other that will allow me to download these positions? I currently have to scroll through the watch and manually pull off the coords and then punch them into another app (Navionics in my case).

Can he GPS position format be changed?

The above questions I know doubt can be covered in a RTFM moment, but thought I'd ask the 5x masse first

Garmin Basecamp program and https://easygps.com/ are programs that can get waypoints from the watch as long as you have the charging cable.

Regarding waypoints, one thing to consider is the accuracy/consistency you need. If you check out a track you will see how much it moves around when you are stationary (the smoothing algorithms work when moving). This can mean that taking numerous waypoints at the same spot will result in a spread of results. At least, on the water, you should have good sky view! I was doing waypoints for orienteering control locations and found the watch was not accurate enough as soon as you stopped moving. i switched to using a Garmin Glo2 (bluetooth GPS receiver) which does a much better job of holding steady when you stop. There are also some tools out there that will take a number of waypoints and provide an average location.
