Yes but it is a limited set. If you made the course in Garmin Connect and added the coursepoints there, then they show up on the screen during the distance countdown. The Summit, Sprint, HC, First Aid etc are under control by the user manually adding them, the turn ones are inserted automatically by Garmin Connect when transferring the course to the watch. If you have Garmin Training Center around, you can add coursepoints manually wherever you want them and then transfer the course over charging cable to preserve the icons.
The Waypoints or Locations are not part of a Course, they are stand alone Proximity Alerts which frustratingly you can only set inside the Fenix 5 rather than externally as in the Fenix 1 and Basecamp.
