Have they fixed this problem by now?

Hi all, I have owned a Fenix 2 for 5 years now and now I am looking to possibly upgrade to a 5. My only issue with the F2 over the years has been it's desire to periodically stop functioning unless plugged into a charger. I figured out early on to just take the back off and unplug the battery for a bit and off it goes running good for a while. This was a well know bug back in the day and discussed many times in the F2 section when this site had one.

My question is has Garnin addressed this obvious bug in subsequent models? I have never taken issue doing this to a watch I have 75 bucks invested in, but taking apart a 500 watch may not be something I will wish to do.

Never heard of this problem in this (F5) forum. You do have to charge it anyway every few days to week depending on how you use it.

What happens is when an activity is started using GPS the watch would suddenly go dead like it was shut off, except it would not turn on except in a charger. Remove it from the charger, off it goes. A reboot by unplugging the battery fixes everything until at some point it will do it again usually around six months or so. Other than that, watch runs like a charm and I love it. Battery life at my usage level is usually around every 10 days or so give or take. Rule of thumb with my F5 is around 5% of battery life per 1 hour of GPS. Battery still tested great when I had the watch open recently. 4V measured on the Fluke. I am glad you do not recall any similar issues on the F5. Thank you for the reply.
