Completed Route will not sync to Garmin Connect

Hi. For the first time I loaded a route from my iPhone to my Fenix 5X. After completing the route, it will not sync this particular activity and shows no exercise for that day (yesterday). I did a normal run today and that synced ok. The completed route is definitely saved on my Fenix but just won't transfer to Garmin Connect on my phone. Is there something I haven't 'ticked' that is preventing the transfer?

After starting the course did you also start a activity? You have to "Do Course" AND start the activity. Look at the Last Sport widget to see if your activity is there, if so then try and sync in the app. If not, then nothing was actually recorded while you followed the course. You are not alone, I think a lot of people learn this the hard way, sorry if that's the case here.
