Heart Rate issue comparing two fenix 5 watches

Me and a friend were running together this morning. We both use Garmin Fenix 5.
At mile 3 my Heart Rate - HR (wrist based) was showing around 160 which was normal to me and My friend’s HR was showing below 125 which he said normal to him.
Then we swapped our watches, his watch to my wrist still showing below 125 so I thought it’s his watch problem but surprisingly my watch to his wrist dropped to 125. Shocking. If it’s my watch issue then why it’s dropped to 125?
Then we changed back our watches back to our own watches, his watch shows 125 on his wrist and my watch showed 130 for next 2 miles on my wrist then got back to 150s.
Where is the issue? His watch? My watch?
His watch may have issue as I never had below 125 HR while running (whatever pace I do). But why my watch dropped to 125 on his wrist and then when switched back to my wrist it stayed same for 2 miles on my wrist before changing back to 150s?

Thanks,

Pradeep

  • it's optic sensor so too easy to mess up and wrong numbers. İf you stick to run with heart beat buy a heart strap.
or you may consider to tighten your watch because while running watch is moving and sweating also problem.
another reason about this you may more sweat from friend
