Inaccurate distance measured during run activity

Hello,

Over the past couple of months I have noticed that all my runs seem to come up slightly short on the distance using the Fenix 5. For example a regular 5K route I do that is marked out for Parkrun so it should be 3.10 miles comes up just a little over over 3, like 3.01 or 3.05. It wasn’t always this bad. And yes I know things like trees and GPS signal can affect things. But the odd thing is, someone who I ran with who has a Forerunner 245 recorded 3.11 miles so much closer to the true distance.

It’s not just this route either, if I run a mile that I know has been marked out correctly, I have to run 1.1 miles. It’s like it’s always .1 of a mile out every time.

What could be going on here, and how could I fix it? I’ve tried various GPS modes, strangely, I no longer have a GPS + Galileo option, only GPS and GPS + GLONASS.

software version 9.10

Thanks,

  • Ok so I’ve gone back through a few old runs and notice that older Software versions have a much better distance accuracy compared to the latest. So something is not right here with the latest software. Anyone else experiencing this?

I also found a GPS update and Galileo is now back as an option, no idea what happened there And I had hoped it would fix this issue. However I have tried Gallileo, GLONASS, GPS only and smart/every second record and all the runs come up short compared to previous software versions.
