Fenix 5s/indoor trainer/Trainer Load and Training Status

I have a Fenix 5s and use a direct drive turbo trainer.  When I ride I use my watch on indoor trainer.  The only sensor I have activated on the watch is the power sensor because if I had speed and cadence active my speeds rise to around 50mph!

The issue I now have is that the training load is not updating and I only get 'unproductive' status.  I used my garmin 1030 to test how that records a ride and it records miles, cadence, speed and power and updates my training status/training load.  However, this means that I now have a training status one on my Fenix and now on my garmin 1030.  I don't want this as I want all the data on one place and coming from my watch, or I would like the information from the 1030 and Fenix to merge.

Is this possible, what am I missing on the set up? Does the fenix 5s record indoor rides and update training status and load?

Thank you Neets.

  • Hi Neets,

what is the indoor trainer? some have speed/cadence/power built in.  I also have a stages crank based power meter on my bike but disable it during indoor rides (as the watch tries to go to this sensor first), so that the watch uses only all sensors from trainer (elite direto).  also if the speed measurement seems off, there is a setting that you probably need to adjust, I was reading about this on some forums (something to do with wheel circumferences, and some trainers having a "factor number" to divide the circumference by)..  Trainer settings and zwift settings in example are not the same.  Hope you get it sorted.

    Best regards,
