Make the Hydration Widget available for Fenix 5

How is the Garmin Hydration Tracking Widget not available for Fenix 5?
It’s really not like the 5 is an „old“ watch. I am planning on getting the Fenix 7 but I shouldn’t have to. I should be able to rely on Garmin to offer at least a tiny bit of backwards compatibility.
I find this behavior unbelievable.

Hi,

I agree that it should be done for Fenix 5 series users. I also do not understand why it is not supportem.

Anyone knows the reason?

I can think of some.

Commercieel. They only add features to new devices to force people to upgrade.

The way garmin develops software could be really awkward (normal companies use a common softwarebase for most of their devices and can turn things on or off depending on hardware. That way new features that don’t require new hardware are available over a wide range of devices. Microsoft works this way with windows, Google with Android and Apple with their devices. It’s quite common but Garmin doesn’t do this.
