Fenix 5X does not start

Hello,

since yesterday my Fenix 5X does not start and I see only a black screen! I tried every combination to reset the watch (soft/hard) and I connected it to my PC. Moreover I charged it for several hours.

Nothing solved the problem!

Unfortunately Garmin does not offer to repair units and they only replace it for ~200€!

Does anybody has an idea for this problem?

How did it happen, all of a sudden or did they they had lower percentage and probably discharged and not starting/not charging? Generally you did all you should do and nothing works, so it is difficult…

Possibly a corrupt file within one of the folders on the watch. You can try forcing into Mass Storage then remove whatever is in the NewFiles folder. With my device connected to my PC it's located here…

I ordered an additional cable ... I sync my watch every day .... so the watch was charged. very strange that suddenly it was just a black screen.

How did it happen, all of a sudden or did they they had lower percentage and probably discharged and not starting/not charging? Generally you did all you should do and nothing works, so it is difficult to advise something more.

Just maybe try to charge it with more cables / chargers to ensure it is not a failure in charging outside the watch.

I also have the feeling that a corrupt file might be the problem. But I cannot start the watch or connect it to my PC! ;(

Corrupt file should at least show the watch to start when you long press light button - blue triangle or something and then not starting because cannot start properly. Black screen means either No energy for start or... watch just died, which is strange but happens too.

So do you connect your watch to PC everyday and charge? Why not synchronize via BT? 5x has issues with charging connector, how does your look like? The more charging, the more potential corrosion of charging pins...

But if it was fully charged and suddenly black, my version of wrong cable is probably out of scope, anyway worth trying.

I ordered a second cable and tried to charge and connect it to Garmin Connect. But the screen remains black and the watch is not starting! ;(

I seems that I have to send it to Garmin and take a replacement watch for 200€! ;(
