Fenix 5s corrupt GPS data with Duathlon activity.

Hi everyone. Completed a Duathlon earlier today and my watch has recorded the whole activity as far as times, elevation, distances etc are concerned; but the GPS route data isn’t there.
Any ideas? I’ve also been having issues with very poor and corrupt GPS data from open water swimming activities that I’ve been in contact with garmin support about. They haven’t been ever so helpful. I’ve tried using the FIT file fixer but garmin connect reports an error every time I try to upload the fixed FIT file! Very annoying after an activity that lasts over 2:30!! Any help would be much appreciated.

    hi, nice username Rolling eyes

sorry to hear about your mishap

    how can we help ?

run your file through Fit File Tool's section remover

import this fit file manual from within Garmin Connect Web

    when this fails

with your consent we can have a look at your file with FitFileRepairTool

zip the fit file and upload here in the forum, or provide a link to it on a cloud storage

    happy & safe sporting

Haha thanks , I was a bit upset last night with the whole thing!

I uploaded the file to the Fit File Tool's section remover as you advised. The elevation, time and distance GPS data is there for the activity but the GPS trace over the map isn't. Its accurate up until the end of the first run phase and then it drops out for the cycle and second run phase. Ive attached the file below, if you could have a look and possibly find out what's gone wrong then id be very grateful. Have you heard of anyone else having these sorts of issues with the Fenix 5s plus. Open water swim GPS data is completely wrong too when I use it. Annoying for a premium multisport watch!

    Thanks for your help,

    Andy

    Andy,

    congratulations with the multipsort Thumbsup

there is nothing wrong with the fit file structure itself

Have you heard of anyone else having these sorts of issues with the Fenix 5s plus.
    • no, but best to ask in a seperate thread in the forum ?

    • 5s is the smallest from the plus range, suppose also the one with the lesse GPS reception ?

GPS logging freeze in your first transition

    • you pause the watch while in the transition ?
    • and a minute after un-pause the GPS recording freezes (not normal Slight smile)

what normally happens seeing the loss off gps logging is that a new data record definition is created

this did not happen here, pointing to an internal glitch

watch only stops recording gps position in the fit file, but is otherwise using gps data as usual

    ...

nothing else for me to see in your file, sorry

have a look at your raw data here with runalyze

Thanks for looking into that for me, really appreciate it. It confirms my suspicion about there being some sort of fault. I’ll keep persevering with garmin support and hopefully they’ll offer some sort of solution.
    Thanks again,

    Andy
