Honestly, I am incredibly disappointed with my Garmin Fenix 5X. From the beginning, synching is a headache. It's slow. I haven't used it in a while and it's already been trying to do a software update for over 1 hour and still hasn't even synched so the date and time are wrong.
When one is out and about there are limitations and trying to synch without wifi or an internet connection is a problem. It turns out that all the sych data from your phone goes through the Garmin servers first before you can access it, which is outrageous.
There are permissions required for use, without which, the 5x becomes a paperweight. I paid like $750 for this thing and I am it's owner. If it's use and functionality is dependent upon my agreeing to a litany of permissions and consents I have to believe there are very real GDPR violations. Garmin gets access to your data before you do and it affects the functionality of the watch - try to use it without an internet connection!
I'm pissed off because it's not easy to use and synching is cumbersome as hell. Garmin, please respond.
