altimeter Fenix 5

Hello all

I read here in the forum, that the Fenix 5 autocalibration doesn't work continuous, only at the beginning of track.My problem is the difference between the real value of altitude and the watch value. And, of course, the final value, the total ascent value is not correct.

What is the best way, or best settings (if it exist) to have, after a hike, precise values?

hi! you can only manually recalibrate it. thats true. the Fenix 5 does only calibrate on start. i have a datapage with gps altitude and baro altitude. on the altitude graph page you can quickly manually recalibrate it by holding down the menu button.

Hello, how can I view the altitude graph, during recording the track? Is it possible?

The simplest thing to do is not use the barometer for altitude.

Then the gps is used for altitude. It's less precise, but the barometer in garmin watches is not very good and changes in air pressure doesn't affect gps altitude.

This way, if you hike a loop, your start and end point are more or less the same hight.

Demanding precise values for altitude is not realistic. Not with gps, nor with a (good) barometer, because of changes in weather. With garmin devices, altitude by gps is your best bet.

Set mode to Barometer. Then the barometer is only used for air pressure.

(You might loose stair counts, but that doesn't work properly anyway)
