Hi all,
I just changed phones, coming from and S5 with Android 6 changed to an S8 with Android 9.
With my old S5/Android6 I did not have any issues regarding a the Bluetooth connection to my Fenix 5. I paired ok and whenever my watch was in range of the phone it (re-) connects and was synchronizing and sending (smart) messages like whatsapp.
Now I changed to (a brand new) S8 with Android 9 and Bluetooth behavior is awful! When I pair the Fenix 5 it works ok for a while. But as soon as the phone is out-of-range for a period it will not re-connect automatically. Strange thing is that the watch says it IS connected to the phone, but the Garmin connect app does not see it as connected and will not start synchronizing again. This means that I need to toggle the Phone connection setting off and on every time the phone has been out of range.
I tried the most usual stuff. Re-installing the Garmin Connect App, checking all security settings and permissions, re-starting the Fenix 5, nothing really improves this. I did not change anything on my watch, so i don't think the problem lies there. Watch firmware is 14.20 (and I intend to keep that w.r.t. battery drain).
When I tried the old S5 again it works as expected in a jiffy.
Anyone else having this issues? Any know solutions?
Regards,
Johan
