Fenix 5s and Garmin Connect

Is it possible for the Fenix 5s to sync with garmin connect on my phone (android) using Bluetooth? Have not been able to sync without an internet connection.

You need to have some kind of internet connection. If your phone does not have internet connection the watch will not sync since it cannot reach Garmins servers.

So the watch connects to the phone via bluetooth, but data is transferred to garmin servers (and not the phone) via the phone so it can then be read/seen on the phone? Just trying to understand how it works.

Exactly. Since it is done this way you also get data i to the app if you sync via cable or WiFi (Sapphire only)
