Is it possible to go from 14.20 13.20? I'm trying to restore battery efficiency and recent releases are not working well.

Thanks, I will give that try.
exactly.
Auto Update in the watch off because the Garmin Connect Mobile and no Garmin Express at all running in the computer.
But you don´t need to change Garmin Express update schedule once this is for the Garmin Express itself, not firmwares.
I am trying to to 14.20 from 15.10 and have dropped the fenix5x_14.20.gcd file into the \GARMIN folder of my device, had auto update turned off on watch, Garmin express turned off. Disconnected watch from computer and restarted watch. Watch remains with 15.10 after the reboot. What am I doing wrong?
Once I dropped the GUPDATE.GCD from the System_Backdate_v1420 directory it triggered an update to 14.20. My questions would be:
1. Are you using the correct file to drop into the Garmin directory
2. Are you getting a notification of an update being available?
In my case, I was getting the update but 15.10 was being later reinstalled over the 14.2 because Garmin Express was downloading it, but I always go the 14.20 update.
Turn off auto update only after reverting to older firmwire. After restarting watch.
AutoUpdate is meant only to wireless.
Hi, I have managed to recreate SNS firmware changing the version numbers from SNS 5.90 "saying" that is it "6.90" version, and Garmin Fenix 5 watch "believes" that is current version. So it is actually now downgrading SNS firmware to version 5.90. Reply me back if you interesting to get a file.
Hi nice job and I would be interested in receiving this file ... but after the fenix5 what firmware does it report?
Hi, This is the download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/16epsn1fvtt2noh/fenix5_downgrade_SNS_590.gcd?dl=0
You have to download the file, do the copy into your Garmin Fenix 5 device folder connected with USB -> /Garmin/RemoteSW/ . Rename it to "GUP2661.gcd" as this indicates for the watch the "new" SNS firmware. Disconnect the Fenix5 with safe device removal from USB. The watch supposed to start the SNS update. You should see SNS v.5.90. I have tested with downgraded v13.30 firmware. Do not connect or use the WebUpdater as it does not help and offer straight to update SNS 6.90 version.
Disclaimer: Do it with own risk as I have not tested with other devices. I suggest to downgrade the software at least to 13.30 as the SNS v5.90 is supposed to be used with early fw v9.0. So later on you can update with desirable firmware. My Garmin Fenix 5 stuff is here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/go3lgxc9f5crf16/AADjpdwX3weMGUi5c1mI2hwoa?dl=0
Looking forward for feadback.
hi,
thank you very much as soon as I can, I don't know when, I try
